“Republican leaders in the House of Representatives are making a new push to repeal the health care reform law.A budget proposal advanced by Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., chairman of the House Budget Committee, says the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 will “exacerbate the spiraling cost of health care, explode deficits and debt, and forever alter the relationship between the government and the American people.”
A repeal of the law will stop $1.8 trillion in new spending by, among other things, “abolishing new exchange subsidies and making sure that not a penny goes toward implementing the new law,” according to the proposal, which Rep. Ryan unveiled Tuesday.
House Republican leaders have made several prior efforts to repeal the health care reform law, all unsuccessful.
The most recent attempt came last July after the House of Representatives approved a repeal bill shortly after the Supreme Court upheld the law’s individual mandate.
The Democrat-controlled Senate declined to take up the measure, which likely would be the result if the House once again passed a repeal bill.”
