As Alice in Wonderland might say, a curious tax just got curiouser. The burden to states could mount to $13 billion in less than a decade.

BCBSIL Monitoring Confirmed Case of Ebola Virus in Dallas

“With the first case of Ebola virus being confirmed in Dallas, we will be monitoring the situation and providing you with further updates and resources as needed.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recognizes that even a single case of Ebola diagnosed in the United States raises concerns. We reaffirm the CDC’s statement that the U.S. medical systems and public health infrastructure are well equipped to contain the virus and limit any further potential threats.

Feds release draft tax forms for employer compliance with ACA

“The Internal Revenue Service on Thursday released drafts of the forms employers will use to report on health coverage they offer to their employees, unveiling a glimpse of the administrative onus in store for benefit advisers and their employer clients working to comply with the Affordable Care Act.

Despite continuing calls to further delay the mandate and confusion about employer shared responsibility requirements following conflicting court rulings just this week on ACA subsidies offered on the federal exchange, the IRS posted to its website draft forms for employers and individuals to use when reporting their health coverage starting in 2015.

“This week, in Time magazine, I read about a possible solution. And it frightens me.

Group appointments. Yes, doctor-patient-patient-patient-patient-patient relationships.

It appears more people are seeing their doctor with another nine or so other patients in the room.
This isn’t an entirely new idea, but it’s becoming more popular than ever. Since 2005, the percentage of practices offering group visits has doubled, from 6 percent to 13 percent in 2010.

2014 Small Group Pediatric Dental Coverage Update

“Effective on plan/policy years beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2014, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will require non-grandfathered fully insured small group (2-50) metallic benefit plans to include pediatric dental coverage as an Essential Health Benefit (EHB), regardless of whether there are any eligible employees or dependents for these services.
