Gallup: Employer-sponsored health insurance down

The Hill reports:

“The number of adults who received health insurance through their employer dipped last month to the lowest rate in three years, according to a new Gallup poll.

A new low of 44.8 percent of adults said they got their health insurance through an employer in November, down from 50 percent in January 2008, when the organization started tracking the data. About one in six (16.1 percent) said they did not have health insurance last month, slightly down from the high of 16.8 percent in May.

Meanwhile, the number of adults enrolled in federal health insurance programs dipped slightly from 26.3 percent in September to 26 percent last month. However, the rate is still up from 22.5 percent in January 2008.”
