If this continued, they said, they would have no choice but to pull out of the exchange business. (more…)

The Quad-City Times reports:
“An 11th-hour bid to establish a state-based health insurance exchange fell short Wednesday when the Illinois House adjourned for the remainder of the year without bringing the matter for a vote.
Against the backdrop of a federal deadline to take action and the looming end of single-party control of state government, the sponsor of the measure said she couldn’t round up enough votes to get the measure to outgoing Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn’s desk.

Healthcare.gov reports:
“We’ve been reaching out to some of you by mail, email, and phone if some information you gave us on your Health Insurance Marketplace application doesn’t match the data we have on file. It’s important that you submit the documents we need so we can help you stay covered through the Marketplace and keep any help you get with premiums and cost-sharing.
We know you’re listening because we’re getting thousands of documents every day and are working around the clock to review these documents to confirm you are eligible for Marketplace coverage. If you’ve mailed or uploaded documents already, we’ll let you know as soon as we’ve finished reviewing them.
If you’ve been getting reminder calls, letters and emails from us, but still haven’t submitted the documents we are asking for, now is the time. Beginning this week, some of you will get a warning notice in the mail telling you that September 5, 2014 is your last deadline to submit these documents.

Crain’s Chicago Healthcare Daily reports:
“If UnitedHealthcare of Illinois Inc. starts selling plans on the state’s health insurance exchange this fall — as reported today — the insurer most likely won’t make a large dent in Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Illinois’ market share.
Still, there are chances for the carrier, an arm of Minneapolis-based UnitedHealth Group Inc., to make inroads in the state.

“The nation’s employers could save a whopping $3.25 trillion over the next decade by shifting most of their employees from workplace health plans to the public exchanges.
That’s according to an S&P Capital IQ report that notes government subsidies and individuals themselves would be left to pick up the tab.
The S&P 500 alone, it said, could save $700 billion through 2025 – potential savings that represent 4 percent of those companies’ market capitalization.
