Blue Cross and Blue Shield reports:
“We want to let you know that Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) will not be participating in the Federally Facilitated Small Business Health Options Program (FF-SHOP) marketplace with BCBSIL health insurance plans starting Jan. 1, 2018.
Members currently enrolled in a plan through FF-SHOP will have coverage through the entire term of the existing contract, and we will continue offering a variety of small group plans to meet the needs of employers in Illinois. Your customers who want to keep BCBSIL coverage for their employees will be able to move to a plan off the FF-SHOP marketplace that fits their needs and provides their employees with affordable coverage. Alternatively, employers may also choose to continue making coverage available to its employees through the FF-SHOP exchange in 2018.

We will send notices with important information to employers and employees before Oct. 1, 2017.
